Happy Fathers Day

It’s Fathers Day here in Canada. It’s a day that we take to celebrate all of the amazing men in our lives that choose to take on one of life’s most difficult tasks…. Raising the next generation.

This day has for the last few years… been tough and I really can’t help but wonder if maybe it would be easier to just not acknowledge days like this. He were an amazing human and I got so incredibly luck that I got to have him as my dad, that I feel it would be a disservice to his memory to ignore dates like this. So I guess I will continue on as I am, but this will be a short post.

Being a father is a really tough role to take on. It’s something that is often made to seem insignificant and something that isn’t often seen as being important. But it is. My dad was an integral part of shaping me into the person I am today and he did so with a calmness and coolness that was unwavering. He worked long hours and gave up a lot of things in his life to be able to give me a good one. I was very fortunate to be raised in a home where I never had to worry about my basic needs and most of my interests and hobbies could be pursued. He took us out travelling and let us explore the world, both in our own back yard and abroad. There was likely a lot that he had to deal with as well that I never saw in order to make that life for myself and my sister. Not having him around to say thank you to him on days like this often tends to bring out a lot of emotions in myself but there are some happy moments that I get to see on this day as well.

I get to watch all of my friends decide to take on this incredible role of fatherhood. Most of these people I got to grow up with as we all went from teenagers to young adults. Watching them become such incredible dads fills my heart with so much joy. I’m incredibly excited to watch their little ones grow into the wonderful human beings that I know they will under your kind guidance.

So, Happy fathers day to all of you amazing dads out there. Take today to relax, and let your little ones spoil you for a change!
